Discovery Life readies “Conjoined Twins”

U.S. net Discovery Life Channel has set a July air date for the hour-long documentary Conjoined Twins: Miracle Separation (pictured), which chronicles the successful separation of conjoined sisters.

The special – produced by ABC News-owned Lincoln Square Productions – documents the journey of Elysse and Eric Mata as they prepare their conjoined 10-month-old twins Knatalye Hope and Adeline Faith – joined together from the ribcage to the pelvis and sharing several internal organs – for surgery.

Conjoined Twins: Miracle Separation – which bows on Discovery Life Channel on July 16 at 9 p.m. EST/PST – follows the Mata family through the birth and separation of Knatalye and Adeline, and highlights the complex 26-hour surgery performed by 12 surgeons, six anesthesiologists and eight surgical nurses at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston on February 17.
